The 83rd annual Loudoun County Fair is dedicated to Claire Griffith. Claire has been giving back to the Loudoun County Fair and 4-H community for almost seventeen years. What started out at first as a fun hobby for her then ten-year-old daughter turned into a lifelong love of her own. You can catch Claire at the Fair every summer, every single day of the week.
Claire served on the Loudoun Fair & Associates, Inc. Board of Directors for ten years. Eight of those years she served as Treasurer, keeping track of all of the corporation’s finances and insurance needs. The two years prior she was Secretary of the Board, keeping detailed records of all meetings and activities. She has also served on the Scholarship Committee for four years, helping select well-deserving graduating 4-H seniors for recognition. Even though Claire chose to step off of the Board last year, she still attends monthly meetings and volunteers at many of LFA’s events to help maintain the fairgrounds.
Outside of her involvement as a Board member, Claire has spent an immeasurable number of hours over the years helping prepare for the Fair and making sure it always runs smoothly. She was the sole adult chairperson of Sykes Hall for two years, served on the Auction Committee for a year, has been a group leader for the Round Robin competition for nine years, and has helped with the Miss Loudoun County Fair Pageant. Most of these activities she still helps with today. Prior to the week of Fair, Claire organizes and places the order for the Ice Cream Shack, as well as the ribbons that are handed out at all of the 4-H and Fair events throughout the week.
Whenever someone needs a helping hand, Claire is there with a smile. Among other things, she’s helped with gate duty, sold ice cream at the Ice Cream Shack, picked up trash, worked in the Fair Office, parked cars, and even shuttled visitors around on golf carts – usually without being asked. She supports numerous 4-H members financially by sponsoring the Round Robin competition and Animal Dress-Up. She is also an annual buyer at the livestock auction.
Claire never expects praise or recognition for what she does, yet she continues to give so much of herself and her time to help others. She puts her heart and soul into everything she does and will work endlessly to make sure everyone is having the time of their life. We are extremely grateful to Claire for her dedication and commitment to the Loudoun County Fair and Loudoun 4-Hers over the past two decades. If you see her on the grounds during the week, be sure to thank her for her continued support!
