Ribbons and Premiums
- Entries are judged within each Class and age group. For example, all Junior chocolate cupcake entries (Division 4, Class 2) are judged as a group, and would not be competing with the Senior or the Open chocolate cupcake entries.
- Placement ribbons from 1st through 6th place may be awarded for Junior, Senior, Open Youth and Open Adult entries. Further placings may be recorded at the discretion of the judges but will not receive a ribbon.
- Cloverbud exhibitors will receive Participation ribbons for each of their entries.
- Each division recognizes a Best of Division winner in each category – Junior, Senior, Open Youth and Open Adult – and are awarded an additional special ribbon. These Best of Division winners are eligible to win the People’s Choice Award.
- Premiums are cash prizes given to 1st through 3rd place ribbon winners in each category, for each Class. Winning entries will receive $4 for first place, $3 for second place, and $2 for third place, except for 4-H Project Books (Division 24).
- 4-H Project Book (Division 24) entries will be judged using the Danish System scoring rubric and given a numerical score accordingly. The entries will then be placed and awarded ribbons in the same manner as all other classes.
- Premiums for the 4-H Project Books (Division 24) are $8 for first place, $6 for second place, and $4 for third place for Junior and Senior classes.
- Overall Champion 4-H Project Books (Division 24) in Junior and Senior categories will receive an additional $25 in special premiums and a rosette ribbon.
- The Open Youth and Open Adult Cake Grand Champion winners will each receive $100 in special premiums. The winners of each 4-H Junior and 4-H Senior Cake Grand Champion will receive the proceeds from the auctioning of their cakes, less the established auction fee.
- In the absence of competition in any Class, the right is reserved to award the placing the judge determines is merited by the exhibit.
- All premiums will be paid in cash and must be collected by the exhibitor during posted times noted under Important Dates.
- Premiums not picked up by July 28 will be donated to Loudoun Fair & Associates, Inc.
- Exhibitors may choose to donate their premiums to the scholarship fund of Loudoun Fair & Associates, Inc. Tax receipts are available upon request.
All judging and placements are at the discretion of the judges and are considered final.
